About Fircrest, WA
Tucked between Tacoma and University Place, Fircrest is a small middle-class suburb of about 6,500 residents. The community was developed by Edward Bowes, the host of the Major Bowes Amateur Hour radio talent show. Originally known as Regents Park in reference to the regents of a university, a number of the streets in Fircrest are even named after universities (e.g. Princeton, Dartmouth, Yale, Vassar, Stanford).
Fircest was the last "dry" municipality in the state, prohibiting the sale of alcohol by the glass until November 2015. With over 30 chainsaw sculptures, beautiful parks, an urban forest, and friendly, active neighborhoods, the City of Fircrest has earned its title as “The Jewel of Pierce County.”
